Student Ambassadors of HCSY 2018-2019

Cierra Black is a 3rd year undergraduate student at UCLA. Her major is Political Science with a concentration on Race and Ethnicity Politics and her minor is in African American studies. Cierra is interested in the health care field and would like to pursue a joint MD/MPH program after graduation. She is a resident assistant on campus, the Programming Coordinator for the Afrikan Student Union and is interested in service work for underrepresented communities.

Alexis Malone is a 3rd year undergraduate student at UCLA. She is pursuing her B.A. in Anthropology, with a minor in African American Studies. Alexis is interested in the policies and programs regarding the improvement of the health care received by lower socioeconomic communities and peoples of color. Upon graduation, Alexis wishes to gain more of a hands-on experience in this field to allow assessment of her interests before pursuing a graduate degree in either law, public health, or a joint degree in both. Within the campus community, Alexis is Co-Events Chair of the recently chartered chapter of Campus Curlz at UCLA promoting self love and overall wellness and an intern with TEACH where she volunteers to tutor and educate underrepresented children on health.

Lezel Legados is a 1st year undergraduate student at UCLA. Majoring in Global Studies and pursuing minors in Education and Public Health, she is interested in the social justice that underlies healthcare, research, communities of color, and solutions presented to societal problems. After graduating, Lezel plans to pursue a Master’s in either Business Administration or Public Health. She works with elementary and immigrating Spanish-speaking high school students through her job as a tutor with UCLA’s BruinCorps, and is a member of the African Student Union and Students for Education Reform.
